North Sentinel Island


      North Sentinel Island is one of the Andaman islands in the Bay of bengal. It is located west of the southern andaman island and much of the island is forested. This island is surrounded by coral reefs and is far from the human settements of the andamans. There are no natural harbors on the island.

History


     Only one tribe knows about North sentinel island. According to their sources, the island or people's traditional name is Chia daawokweyeh. Same culture as the sentinels only a handful of people were brought here by the british who ruled in the 19th century

Language


     They say that the languages and language of the islands are not understood by the people of the nearby island. What is the true orgin of the origines in Africa? Where did they come from? No one knows what their daily work is. 

Not Allowed 


      The law states that no one should go within three miles of the island. The reason is that they are being murdered by people living in the area. They do not allow outsiders to set foot on their island violatns will leave the rest of the body.

Jarawa Tribes


     The jarawa tribal people consider this land as theirs. They know nothing about modern legislation on the outsiders. They are not bound by any rules or regulations. Residents of the southern , western and central parts of the Andaman. Tourists are not allowed to visit their places as they are aggressive. Their number averages 471.

Attack


      An indian coast guard helicopter flee over the andaman islands during the 2004 tsunami. The tribesmen their fried arrows at the helicopter. The helicopter then returned.

Tanjore Inscription about Jarawa aborigines


    The islands in the andamans and the old people living there are mentioned in the tanjore inscription as Nakkavaram. Nakkavaram means nudity. Surprisingly, the tanjore inscription on the same day mentions the tribals who lived in the andaman in the past and jarawa people who now inhabit the island.

Defenders of the cholas


     
Legends has it that the entire island was brought under thr rule of the chola empire in the 11th century AD. Historians also point out that there is an inscription engraved with a tiger flag on the Great Nicobar Islands. There is also a history that the cholas freqently traveled to the area under Nicobar. By these means the people of the area are considered to have been the protections and people of the kings during the chola period.

     Around  8am on jan 4, 1991 , she rowed her boat towards the island without much expectation. She saw smoke coming out from an area and went in the direction. Soon the sentinelese came in sight. Most of them were men and four were armed with bows and arrows. 


    She dropped coconuts in the water and surprisingly the sentinelese came to collect them.

John Allen Chau


    John in Nov 17, 2018 an American, protestant christian missions. He was killed with arrowd when he landed on north sentinel island. He was trying to convert the protected people to christianity.

John Allen Chau letter to his family



“Please do not be angry at them or at God if I get killed,” he wrote.

“I love you all.”

Before setting off that final day, Mr. Chau finished his not with a message to his family. The handwritting gets sloppier, the lined more crooked.
